SMS lead verification: the number is live and in their hand

SMS lead verification is the second stage of every campaign PrimeLeads runs. A code goes to the mobile number the enquirer typed, and the enquiry does not continue until it comes back. It is the smallest check in the process and it removes the largest share of junk, so this page explains exactly what it proves and what it cannot.

What the check proves

That the mobile number on the record was live, and in that person's hand, at the moment they enquired. That one fact strips out typos, made up numbers, bot form fills and the friend's number someone typed to get past a form. The broker who dials a verified record reaches a person who asked to be called.

What it does not prove

It does not prove the person can service a loan, and no supplier should imply that it does. Verification is a filter on contact, not on credit. The credit side is a separate stage, described under mortgage lead qualification. Nor does verification stop the same person enquiring twice; that is a separate pass again, described under duplicate lead checking.

Why it matters more for speed than for accuracy

The Harvard Business Review audit of 2,241 US firms found that companies which tried to reach a lead within an hour were nearly seven times as likely to qualify it as those that waited an hour longer, and more than 60 times as likely as those that waited a day. A dead number costs you that hour twice: once dialling it, and once while the real enquirer waits for a call that went to the wrong phone.

How it is delivered

Verification happens at the point of enquiry, in the same session as the form. The verified number is delivered into your CRM with the rest of the record, so your first call goes to a number that answered a code minutes earlier. The delivery step is described under CRM lead delivery.

What it costs

Nothing separately. It is inside the fixed cost per lead agreed before the campaign runs. A record whose number fails verification is not a lead and is not billed. There is no retainer and no lock in.
